About

A rare opportunity to see this dramatic adaptation of one of Noël Coward’s finest pieces of light verse, P&O 1930, brought to the stage for the first time by Michael Lunts, whose one-man show The Enigma of Edward Elgar was seen at last year’s Festival of Words. Come aboard the SS Madeira and relive, in Coward’s own words and songs, the historic journey home to Britain from the Far East in the 1930’s, when a voyage took weeks rather than hours, and enabled the passengers to get up to all sorts of antics en route!

We first saw this event back in 2016, the first year of the Festival. If you saw it then, it’s well worth a second look. And if you haven’t seen it, then you really should! To quote the Daily Mail: “ A rare gem evoking the genuine spirit of Coward… Mr Lunts can switch characters with the twitch of an eyebrow while playing the piano perfectly.”

Bretforton Theatrebarn is the perfect venue for this event. Note: steep steps to the theatre. No disabled access.
