Frequently Asked Questions
When do tickets go on sale?
Tickets go on sale from the beginning of the year. Tickets for events at Holland House may be available earlier. Check their website – www.hollandhouse.org.
How can I buy tickets?
Tickets can be bought online via the Events page on our Festival website. If you wish to pay by cash or cheque, or pay on the door, please contact: info@eveshamfestivalofwords.org, or telephone Sue Ablett, Festival Chair, 0787 1285606.
Payment can also be made by BACS. Please follow the instructions on the checkout page.
Are Festival events suitable for children?
No, our events are specifically aimed at adults.
How do I use a Festival Gift Voucher to buy tickets?
If you have a Gift Voucher you will need to contact us direct to arrange the booking. Please email: info@eveshamfestivalofwords.org.
Where do I collect my tickets?
- Credit/Debit Card Payments: Tickets are emailed to you automatically as soon as the payment is completed.
- Bank Transfer Payments: Tickets will be emailed to you once we have verified the payment in our bank account.
Do you charge a booking fee?
No, we don’t charge a booking fee. The only exception is for events at The Henrician, where tickets are bought directly from their website, and a booking fee is charged.
Is it possible to buy tickets on the door?
It may be but some events do sell out. It is always best to buy your tickets in advance. Check our website as this will indicate if an event is sold out.
If an event is sold out, do you have a waiting list?
Yes we do have waiting lists. If tickets become available, we would contact those on the waiting list by email or telephone. Tickets are then allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Please note that ticket returns are relatively rare. Having your name on a waiting list is no guarantee that you will be able to obtain a ticket.
Do you offer concessions?
No we don’t.
Are the venues accessible?
We try to ensure that venues are accessible. If you have specific access or disability needs, do please contact us and we can advise. We will do everything we can to make your visit as easy as possible. (Email: info@eveshamfestivalofwords.org)
What time should I arrive before an event?
There may well be an event before the one you are attending. So we suggest you arrive around 30 minutes prior to your event. This will give time for refreshments beforehand.
Are refreshments available at the events?
For our day-time events we generally provide tea and coffee, soft drinks, and home-made cake, and this is included in the ticket price. Check the Festival Brochure or website for details of what is included for each event.
Will books be available to buy at events?
For author events, yes there will be books available. Payment can be made by cash or card.
Will I have chance to meet the author and get my book signed?
Yes indeed. Our events are small so there is always chance to talk to the author and get your book signed.
Will there be a Q & A session?
Q & As will take place at the end of most events.
Will any of the events be live-streamed?
No. We don’t have the technical facilities to be able to do this.
If I can’t attend on the day, should I let you know?
Yes please if you can, preferably by email: info@eveshamfestivalofwords.org.
What happens if an event is cancelled?
This is a very rare occurrence but, if an event has to be cancelled for any reason, we may reschedule, or try and put on an alternative event. If this happens, we would contact all those who have booked tickets to see if they would like to attend on the new date or go for the alternative event. If not, they would be given a refund or offered the opportunity to exchange their tickets for tickets of equal value for an alternative event.
Do you give refunds if I’m unable to attend an event I’ve booked?
Tickets are non-refundable unless an event is cancelled..
Do you welcome feedback after an event?
Yes, we are always delighted to receive feedback on any aspect of an event. Feedback is always taken seriously and discussed by the Festival Committee. If you wish to send in feedback, please email: info@eveshamfestivalofwords.org.
Are any of the Festival team paid or are they all volunteers?
None of the team are paid. The Committee and other helpers are all volunteers.
I really enjoyed attending the Festival, is there any way I can become involved?
We are always looking for volunteers to fulfil a number of functions for us. These include: brochure distribution; making cakes; helping at events etc. If you have additional skills that you think would be useful to the Festival or would like to find out more, please contact Sue Ablett, Festival Chair – email: info@eveshamfestivalofwords.org.
How can I support the Festival?
We are always grateful for sponsorship towards the cost of printing our Festival Brochure and would also welcome sponsorship of individual events. To discuss, please email: info@eveshamfestivalofwords.org.
When will the dates of next year’s Festival be announced?
We begin preparation of the next year’s programme in late summer. We aim to have a detailed Save the Date Flier available on the Festival website in late autumn. The dates will also be announced on the News page of our website, and by email to all on our Festival Contact List.
